Named after a former cricketer Duleepsinhji, This is domestic first-class cricket tournament that started back in 1961. Initially, this tournament was played in format where each geographical region has a team – North, South, East, West, Central. First ever edition of the tournament was won by the west zone. In the past 62 years, some of the expectations were made in the tournament where foreign cricketers and teams have participated in this prestigious tournament. Till 2014, knockout format is used in the tournament. Tournament didn’t took place in 2015, from 2016 onwards BCCI has decided go on with the round-robin format, where they choose three teams. They have also played some matches with the pink ball as well. Due to COVID-19, Duleep trophy got canceled for three consecutive seasons and resumed from 2022 onwards, where the North-east zone was introduced. This year BCCI has decided to go with four team – India A, India B, India C, and India D.

Tournament Format – Duleep Trophy
Tournament is to be played in Test match format played with Red ball, 90 overs a day, 4 innings to be played in a 5 day game. For this season of Duleep Trophy 2024, there are 4 teams participating in a round-robin format, where they will play against each other. There will be total of six matches to be played where each team will play 3 games each. Table toppers at the end of the total 6 matches will be crowned as champions.
