Pakistan’s prominent bowling all-rounder, Imad Wasim, recently shared his perspective on the roster unveiled by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Imad Wasim conveyed his satisfaction with the team selection and expressed his readiness to contribute if given the opportunity.
During an interview on a YouTube channel, Imad Wasim commended Inzamam-ul-Haq, the new chief selector of Pakistan, for providing transparency in his decision-making process. He lauded Inzamam-ul-Haq for maintaining open communication and informing players in advance about their non-inclusion in the squad.
While discussing his future in international cricket, Imad Wasim emphasized that he has not retired from One Day International (ODI) cricket and would eagerly embrace the chance to participate in the forthcoming ODI World Cup in India. He emphasized the significance of clarity and preparation, highlighting his respect for selectors who maintain clear communication.
“If someone asks me about it, and if someone does, there has to be something about it, and you can’t just call a person suddenly two days or three days before the World Cup; there has to be clarity, and Mickey Arthur is that sort of a person, and Inzamam-ul-Haq is sort of a person who gives you clarity and calls you up and tells you what’s going on and obviously who wouldn’t want to play the World Cup for Pakistan,” remarked Imad Wasim.
Imad Wasim shared his aspirations for Pakistan’s upcoming cricket endeavors, including the Asia Cup, ODI World Cup, and the Afghanistan series scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka. Expressing confidence in the team’s capabilities, he voiced his desire for Pakistan’s success in these tournaments.
“I just want the Pakistan team to win the World Cup and Asia Cup and Afghanistan series, and I am very happy with the team they have announced, and I am looking forward to watching them play because in ODIs, Pakistan has got a very strong team and they are favorites in my opinion, both in the Asia Cup and the World Cup,” added Imad Wasim.
Pakistan’s journey in the Asia Cup 2023 is set to commence with a match against Nepal on August 30 at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. Led by Babar Azam, the team will subsequently face India on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
